Chinese government increases control of international coverage in China

Irina Barnés- Last week, Xi Jinping’s goverment blocked the acces to the majority of the international digital media (mostly european and nord american) by denying a huge amount of visa to some of the international journalists. But this is not an exceptional fact: since the communist party came to power, prohibition to information acces has been highly increased, threatening also the use of the mobile and social networks.

Reporters and journalists working in the area have also had trouble while trying to give an exhaustive coverage of the chinese reality, fact that the experts undestand as a protection measure.

According to David Bandurski, researcher at the Hong Kong’s University in statements to the Japan Today digital media, “International coverage is no longer simply damaging to China’s international image, it’s also damaging to China’s domestic image of the ruling party.”
