Boston falls behind in digital media workplace creation

Boston is still trailed by New York regarding the Internet and digital media. Lately, grand technological companies of the States have been hiring more New Yorkers than people from Boston. Throughout the last four months, New York has presented a growth of 3.2% on Internet and digital media use, while the Boston’s development in the same field has been reduced by 1.3%. According to Cook Associates this is the lowest level in two years.

Amongst 193 Bostonian companies related to digital media (worth mentioning Wayfair, HubSpot and TripAdvisor), only 225 workplaces have been created. Whereas, during the same period of time, 1.120 new employees have become part of 369 digital New Yorker firms, amidst which Google, Facebook and Twitter can be found.

It is worth acknowledging that great part of the Bostonian industry is still on its first stage, however, according to Cook’s managing director, John Barret, “while it’s good to see all these companies starting, it hasn’t led to as much job creation”.
