Georgina Boixereu.- Sumaya al Yabarti is now the first woman in Saudi Arabia occupying a charge of such level. The newspaper Saudi Gazette has determined for a woman to substitute Jaled al Maíma, who feels “proud of withdrawing in favour of a journalist woman” and hopes this appointment will be a turning point that will get women to higher positions.

Various women occupy important jobs on different journals in the country, however none has arrived before to the duty of redaction manager. Al Yabarti, who started in the gazette on 2011, claims that her responsibility in the newspaper will be “double” only because of being a woman, but she hopes her nomination “opens doors to her professional colleagues”.
