Jara Bravo.- El Mundo, Spanish newspaper founded in 1983 by Pedro J. Ramírez, has confirmed its preeminence amongst digital media in Spain with 7.7 million unique users in January, according to comScore. These data shows that Unidad Editorial’s gazette has not only consolidated its position, but it has outrun its competence: elpaís.com and abc.es, with 230.000 and 2.308.000 unique users of difference respectively.
El Mundo’s digital model renovation and the introduction of a payment system (after 25 articles) are some of the reasons of the newspaper’s leadership, which has added 532.000 unique users and has increased its Internet traffic. Exclusive information, investigation reports and the strong bet on audiovisual support have boosted its readers’ fidelity.
In this way, thanks to the changes carried out by the company last December, elmundo.es presents a new design, “cleaner, clearer, attributing importance to news, but offering fresh possibilities such as panoramic albums, or different informative formats”, which points it out as Spain’s leading digital journal.
