Laura Anglès.- Generalist newspaper El País features the option of sharing its news through the instant messaging application WhatsApp. El País is the first digital means to incorporate this option to its news. Every time more, digital media choose to expand and gain ground through social networks.
The sharing system for now is limited to iPhone. Through the green icon of WhatsApp, situated together with the rest of social network icons like Facebook. Twitter, Google+, Menéame, Tuenti, Linkedin or Eskup, the user can share the news with his contacts selecting the ones he wishes. All this is going on right when WhatsApp has joint Facebook through the multimillionaire purchase that has made history. The company has 25 million users in Spain, 38 million in Brazil, 32 million in Mexico and 13 million in Argentina.
“We celebrate the integration with El País. WhatsApp reaches 20% of the information shared through mobile web. We are sure that this system will be useful to spread and enjoy its contents and news with important people. WhatsApp eases the sharing in a simple and direct way”, WhatsApp Company assures.
